07 May 2026

On May 7, 2026, the Institute of Solid State Physics at BAS (ISSP-BAS) took part in the initiative “Peaceful Atom – Green Planet”, which is organized annually by the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy at BAS.

This year, the event brought together ISSP-BAS, the Institute of Electronics – BAS, the Central Laboratory of Solar Energy and New Energy Sources – BAS, and the State Enterprise “Radioactive Waste” (SERAW).

The event, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident in 1986, took place in the park of BAS Scientific Complex 2 and combined science, sports, and environmental responsibility.

The program included sports competitions for all age groups, planting of pine trees and rose shrubs, as well as an impressive parade of retro cars. Scientists and staff from ISSP-BAS took part in the planting activities, contributing to the improvement of the environment and making a symbolic gesture towards a sustainable future and care for nature.
