On June 26, we had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Sebastian Schmidt, Scientific Director of Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden – Rossendorf (HZDR), the largest independent research center in Eastern Germany.
Prof. Schmidt presented the research infrastructure of HZDR, the main areas of activity (Matter · Health · Energy), and the institute’s mission to address key scientific and societal challenges. He shared ongoing and future projects and highlighted the extensive opportunities for collaboration in both fundamental and applied science. “We look forward to developing active and fruitful cooperation,” said Prof. Schmidt, expressing his readiness to work together with the students, scientists, and researchers in attendance.
The seminar was opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekaterina Yordanova, Director of the Institute of Solid State Physics – BAS, and Prof. Dr. Georgi Angelov, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth. In their welcome addresses, they expressed their gratitude for Prof. Schmidt’s visit and his commitment to advancing international scientific collaboration.
