Held biennially since 1980, ISCMP is a well-established international forum dedicated to the dissemination of advanced research and the exchange of scientific ideas in condensed matter physics.
We are pleased to announce the upcoming edition of the 24th International School and Conference on Condensed Matter Physics (ISCMP 2026), taking place from 30 August to 4 September 2026 in St. Constantine and Helena, near Varna, Bulgaria.
The 2026 edition is centred on the theme:
Functional Materials for Sustainable Innovation and the Green Technology Transition: From Processing to Applications
ISCMP 2026 covers five thematic pillars in condensed matter physics and functional materials, spanning fundamental science to real-world applications.
Since its inauguration in 1980, the International School and Conference on Condensed Matter Physics (ISCMP) has been organised biennially by the Institute of Solid State Physics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with international partners.
Over the years, ISCMP has established itself as a respected international forum for scientific exchange, bringing together leading researchers, early-career scientists, and PhD students in condensed matter physics.
The conference typically hosts over 120 participants from around the world and provides a platform for presenting recent advances, discussing emerging topics, and fostering collaborations across disciplines.
Selected contributions from the conference are traditionally published in proceedings volumes issued by leading international publishers, further contributing to the visibility and impact of the presented research.
ISCMP covers a broad and evolving range of topics in condensed matter physics and related interdisciplinary fields, including:
The thematic focus of each edition reflects current scientific challenges and technological developments.
